¡Viva México!

Thanks to my mother, one of my favorite places in the world is Mexico. Not the spring break-y, commercialized places (Cancun), and not the resorts, but authentic Mexico. We (my family) have a beautiful location that we have visited five times over the course of my 21 years, the most recent being December 2014 (which was Brian's first time!)
UPDATE: We've been 2 more times since this post was first written!

I don't want to post our favorite spot on the internet -- part of what we love about the location is that no one goes there! Here are some tips for planning a trip to Mexico:

1. Avoid resorts -- especially if you're on a budget. It's a lot cheaper to find a hotel and eat at local restaurants, and it allows you to experience a lot more of the culture.

2. Visit during the off-season -- we like to go there during November-December simply because there are a lot less people during this time. Having the beaches all to yourself makes the experience incredible.

3. Find a place that is not commercial -- Cancun is a very commercial spot. I feel that finding a smaller place is a much better way to experience Mexican culture.

Other than that, just remember to relax and don't drink the water!
